Pragma Medical — Rebuilt to Be Found

Pragma Medical manufacture wound care products — gels, sprays and antiseptic solutions used in the treatment of acute and chronic wounds, meeting international medical standards.

Their customers are doctors and patients. When either of those people looks for a product by name, they need to find it.

They did not.

The problem

The old site was a set of templates. Not a platform — templates, assembled into something that resembled a website and behaved like one only if you did not look closely.

Everything followed from that. It was slow. The structure was whatever the templates imposed rather than what the business needed. And the products — the entire reason the site existed — were effectively invisible to search. Someone typing the exact name of a product Pragma manufacture found nothing. Not page four. Nothing.

This is worse for a medical manufacturer than for most businesses. A doctor searching for a wound care product by name is at the exact moment of deciding what to use. A patient searching the same name has been handed it and wants to know it is real. Both searches are the most valuable traffic the company could receive, and both were landing somewhere else.

The client's brief was, essentially: we need to be findable.

What we did

Rebuilt it as a real project. Not a redesign on top of the templates — the templates were the problem. Patching a foundation like that costs more than replacing it and works less well, and this was a clear case: nothing could be fixed in place because there was no place to fix it.

Restructured around the catalogue. The products are the business. The architecture now reflects that — each product is a real page with a real address, structured so a search engine can read what it is.

Technical SEO built into the build. Not added afterwards as a service. Structure, markup, and speed handled while the thing was being made, which is the only time it works properly.

Made it fast. The template site was slow because of what it was. The rebuilt one is fast for the same reason — speed is decided by the foundation, not by optimisation applied later.

Connected the analytics. Google Analytics and Search Console set up and handed over. The client can see their traffic, their search performance, and what people are looking for — in their own account, not in a monthly report from us.

Result

Products that never appeared in Google now rank third or fourth in Baku for their own names.

That is the whole project in one line. A doctor searching for a Pragma product finds Pragma. Before the rebuild, that search returned nothing from the company that manufactures it.

The site is also fast, structured, and visible to the client — who can now watch their own search performance rather than take our word for it.

Why this was a rebuild and not a redesign

We tell clients both answers. Sometimes a site's foundation is sound and the problem is genuinely how it looks — that was the case with Sakitlik, and patching it was the right call.

This was not that. A site assembled from templates cannot be made findable by improving it, because the thing preventing it from being found is what it is made of. Every fix would have revealed two more, and the client would have paid for the rebuild anyway, eighteen months and one wasted budget later.

The honest answer was to start over. It was also the cheaper one.
